HPI Cafeteria Monitor
HPI – Cafeteria Monitor:
- Hours – 3 hours per day (10:00 am – 1:00 pm – may vary slightly) Monday – Friday
- Rate of pay – $15.92 per hour
Reports to: Principal, Assistant Principal
Job Objective: Monitors students during lunch time for the purpose of ensuring the safety and welfare of students; works collaboratively with the custodial staff to maintain a clean and sanitary environment in the cafeteria.
Essential Functions:
1. Communicates school policies and enforcement procedures to students during the time that students are in the cafeteria area.
2. Intervenes in potential conflicts for the purpose of minimizing disruptions of campus activities and or injury to involved parties.
3. Washes and sanitizes tables between lunch lines and rearranges and cleans chairs as needed.
4. Supervise by movement to be with children to assure coverage of cafeteria.
5. Reports incidents to the appropriate personnel and assist with follow up as directed.
6. Takes precautions to ensure staff/student safety. Watches for student behavior that may indicate a problem. Report concerns to an administrator.
7. Reports evidence of suspected child abuse as required by law.
8. Respects personal privacy. Maintains the confidentiality of privileged information.
9. Participates in staff meetings and professional growth opportunities as directed.
10. Accepts responsibility for decisions and conduct.
11. Wears appropriate work attire and maintains a neat appearance.
12. Understands and uses district crisis plan protocol to respond to emergencies.
13. Conduct other duties related to the monitor’s position as assigned by the Custodial Supervisor or Principal.
14. All other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Administrator
15. Must obtain Student Monitor License through Ohio Department of Education
Minimum Qualifications:
– High School Diploma
– Documentation of a clear criminal record with evidence from BCII and FBI
– Self-directed and able to learn quickly
– Ability to manage students in a fast-paced environment
– Professional tact, diplomacy and presentation
– Conscientious and assumes responsibility for own work performance
– Good health, high moral character and good attendance record
– Demonstrate enthusiasm and a sincere desire to aid all students
Other Knowledge Skills and Abilities required:
– Skills to operate equipment used for cleaning (i.e. broom, mop)
– Knowledge of basic math
– Ability to read and follow instructions
– Ability to understand written and oral instructions
– Possess knowledge of security and emergency procedures
– Ability to schedule activities, and collate data
– Maintains a good attendance record and is punctual
– Serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings
Additional Working Conditions:
– Duties may entail occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue
– Duties may require bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching and standing
– Duties may require occasional interaction among unruly children
– Duties may require the ability to lift up to forty (40) pounds
