Assist the driver in the safe transportation of students, enabling the students to maintain safety both physically and behaviorally while in transit to and from school and/or extracurricular activities.
- Valid driver’s license.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Valid State of Ohio Student Monitor license.
- Must meet requirements of the Ohio Department of Education and the District’s Board Policy.
- Professional tact, diplomacy and presentation with administrators, staff, teachers, students, parents, and the community.
- Conscientious and assumes responsibility for own work performance.
- Good health, high moral character, and good attendance record.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm and a sincere desire to aid all students.
- Maintains confidentiality at all times within the District and the community.
- Must pass an FBI/BCI background check
- Assist with the loading/unloading of the vehicle to ensure safety and secure placement within the vehicle as required per District policy, ODE requirements, and individual student plans (IEP or 504 Plan).
- Direct student supervision should be maintained at all times.
- Perform all duties delegated by the supervisor.
- Provide guidance and counsel to the students to promote their proper educational development and well-being.
- Cooperate and collaborate as needed with the Pupil Services Department and/or the student’s case manager to effectively support the needs of all students.
- Collect pertinent data when requested to effectively address the needs outlined in individualized student plans.
- Maintain anecdotal records of student behavior as requested by supervisor and/or required by District policy.
- Demonstrate professional ethics and confidentiality.
- Promote good public relations by neat appearance, proper attitude, and professional interactions with all parents, students, staff, and community members.
- Assist the driver in maintaining safe operation and cleanliness of the vehicle.
- Maintain pupil control and report any violation to the transportation supervisor according to procedure.
- Will be present or available in the event of emergency dismissal.
- Notify the transportation supervisor in the case of illness daily or of continued illness so as to permit time to secure a substitute.
- Participate in a minimum of two (2) rear door emergency evacuation drills on each school bus run each year.
- Attend one (1) annual inservice program and participate in other training as directed by the supervisor(s).
- Serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.
- Help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.
- Wear appropriate work attire and maintain a neat appearance.
- Conduct additional duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation and/or designee.
- Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue.
- Occasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions.
- Occasional interaction among unruly children.

Substitute Monitor
Substitute monitor will fill in for regular monitor during absences on an as needed basis. Once hired, substitutes monitors will be required to obtain ODE Student Monitor License.

Transportation Monitor
Rate of pay – $13.00 per hour
Job Objectives
Monitors students during the time they are on the playground, cafeteria, ADK classroom or study hall for the purpose of ensuring the safety and welfare of all students
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma
Documentation of a clear criminal record with evidence from BCII and FBI
Self-directed and able to learn quickly
Ability to manage students in a fast- paced environment
Professional tact, diplomacy and presentation
Good health, high moral character and good attendance record
Demonstrate enthusiasm and a sincere desire to aid all students
Obtain a Student Monitor License through ODE
Essential Functions
-Communicates school policies and enforcement procedures to students.
-Intervenes in potential conflicts for the purpose of minimizing disruptions of school activities and or injury to involved parties
-Reports incidents to the appropriate personnel and assist with follow up as directed
-Takes precautions to ensure staff/student safety. Watches for student behavior that may indicate a problem Report concerns to an administrator
-Respects personal privacy. Maintains the confidentiality of privileged information
-Remain as neutral as possible in a dispute
-Being a role model of professionalism for all students
-Interacting in a professional and controlled manner at all times

- Refrain from tobacco use while working the school crossing
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.
- Help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.
- Conduct other duties related to the mechanic’s duties as assigned by the transportation supervisor.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Objectives:
Monitors students during the time they are on the playground, (or indoors if weather does not permit outdoor recess) for the purpose of ensuring the safety and welfare of students.
Essential Functions:
- Communicates school policies and enforcement procedures to students during the time that students are in the playground or at recess.
- Intervenes in potential conflicts for the purpose of minimizing disruptions of school activities and or injury to involved parties.
- Supervise by movement to be with children to assure coverage of playground.
- Reports incidents to the appropriate personnel and assist with follow up as directed.
- Understands and uses district crisis plan protocol to respond to emergencies.
- Takes precautions to ensure staff/student safety. Watches for student behavior that may indicate a problem. Report concerns to an administrator.
- Reports evidence of suspected child abuse as required by law.
- Respects personal privacy. Maintains the confidentiality of privileged information.
- Participates in staff meetings and professional growth opportunities as directed.
- Accepts responsibility for decisions and conduct.
- Wears appropriate work attire and maintains a neat appearance.
- Conduct other duties related to the monitor’s position as assigned by the Principal.
13. Must obtain a Student Monitor License through Ohio Department of Education
