Substitute Monitor - 2025-2026 School year

Substitute monitor will fill in for regular monitor during absences on an as needed basis. Once hired, substitutes monitors will be required to obtain ODE Student Monitor License.

Positions included:

Kindergarten Monitor
Playground Monitor
Cafeteria Monitor
JH Monitor
HS Monitor
Transportation Monitor

Rate of pay – $13.00 per hour

Job Objectives
Monitors students during the time they are on the bus, playground, cafeteria, ADK classroom or study hall for the purpose of ensuring the safety and welfare of all students

Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma
Documentation of a clear criminal record with evidence from BCII and FBI
Self-directed and able to learn quickly
Ability to manage students in a fast- paced environment
Professional tact, diplomacy and presentation
Good health, high moral character and good attendance record
Demonstrate enthusiasm and a sincere desire to aid all students
Obtain a Student Monitor License through ODE

Essential Functions
-Communicates school policies and enforcement procedures to students.
-Intervenes in potential conflicts for the purpose of minimizing disruptions of school activities       and or injury to involved parties
-Reports incidents to the appropriate personnel and assist with follow up as directed
-Takes precautions to ensure staff/student safety.   Watches for student behavior that may indicate a problem   Report concerns to an administrator
-Respects personal privacy.   Maintains the confidentiality of privileged information
-Remain as neutral as possible in a dispute
-Being a role model of professionalism for all students
-Interacting in a professional and controlled manner at all times

Additional Working Conditions
Duties may entail occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue
Duties may require bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching and standing
Duties may require occasional interaction among unruly children

The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District

Substitute Bus Driver 2025-2026 School year

Substitute bus drivers will fill in for regular bus drivers during absences on an as needed basis. Substitute bus drivers must hold a valid Ohio CDL.

Rate of pay –
Sub Bus Driver – $20.00 per hour

Reports To:                        Transportation Director

Employment Status:         Part time

FLSA Status:                     Non-Exempt

 

Qualifications:

  1.     Valid driver’s license with CDL endorsement; bus drivers’ certificate.
  2.     High school diploma or equivalent.
  3.     Must meet requirements of the Ohio Department of Education and the district’s Board Policy.
  4.     Completion of satisfactory pre-employment driver’s training program, and basic bus driver’s education program
  5.     Be physically qualified as determined by annual physical examination required by the State of Ohio
  6.     Professional tact, diplomacy and presentation with administrators, staff, teachers, students, parents and the community.
  7.     Conscientious and assumes responsibility for own work performance.
  8.     Good health, high moral character.
  9.     Demonstrate enthusiasm and a sincere desire to aid all students.

 

General Description:
Responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of school pupils within the guidelines of the State of Ohio and the policies established by the Board of Education, maintaining discipline on the bus and promoting good public relations by neat appearance, proper attitude and suitable appearance of the school bus.

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Complete a safety check of the school bus as required by the State of Ohio Regulation  3301-83-11 before each run.
  2.   Board the bus at least fifteen (15) minutes before the scheduled morning departure and at least five (5) minutes before departing the parking area in the afternoon.
  3.    In cold weather, warm up the engine gradually.  Do not race the engine.  Be sure windshield, side windows and all mirrors are clear.
  4.    Complete established pre-trip inspection.  Before starting on a scheduled bus route to pick up of discharge pupils, the driver shall check headlights, tail and stop lights, warning lights, directional lights, tires, horn, windshield wipers, heater and defroster, dashboard gauges, steering brakes or any other feature which may affect the safe, efficient operation of the vehicle.
  5.    Report equipment malfunctions in schooldude and give to the bus mechanics.
  6.   Responsible for safe operating condition and cleanliness of the bus.
  7.   Maintain pupil control and report any violation to the transportation supervisor according to procedure.
  8.   Report any hazardous conditions along the existing route to the transportation supervisor.
  9.   Follow properly approved procedures for reporting bus accidents and complete forms provided.
  10. Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude, conversation and the appearance of the school bus.
  11. Share in the responsibility for driving for a school-sponsored event and/or approved field trip.
  12. Shall be required to attend one (1) annual in-service program.
  13. Brief passengers on safety protocol.
  14. Do not leave any loose items on the bus.

 

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.
  2. Help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.
  3. Conduct other duties related to the bus driver’s duties as assigned by the transportation supervisor.

 

ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  1.     Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue.
  2.     Occasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions.
  3.     Occasional interaction among unruly children.
