Substitute Custodian 2024-2025 School Year

Substitute custodian will fill in for regular custodian during absences on an as needed basis. 

Rate of pay – $16.67 per hour

Qualifications: 

Valid driver’s license.
Minimum age of 18.
Ability to make clear and comprehensive reports.
Ability to follow directions
Willingness to work and assume responsibility, develop and improve his/her proficiency and is conscientious.
Professional tact, diplomacy and presentation with administrators, staff, teachers, students, parents and the community.
Conscientious and assumes responsibility for own work performance.
Demonstrate enthusiasm and a sincere desire to aid all students.

 

General Description: 

Perform custodial work required for the routine care, maintenance, protection and preservation of the assigned building, its contents and grounds.

Essential Functions: 

Perform and is directly responsible for the routine maintenance and repair of the building and its equipment plus all phases of housekeeping duties.

Develop and ensure proper function of work, inspection, maintenance and cleaning schedules with the cooperation of the principal and/or designee.

Maintain a clean, safe and neat boiler room (if applicable).

Remove snow, ice, debris from walks, steps and entry ways.

Help unload trucks, receive, check and store supplies.

Perform required tasks such as sweeping, mopping floors, finishing floors, emptying and cleaning waste receptacles, trash and pencil sharpeners, refilling towel and soap dispensers and toilet tissue, removing cobwebs, cleaning windows, cleaning all chalkboards, cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, dusting and polishing furniture and woodwork as necessary.

Keep buildings in a neat and presentable fashion and play areas neat and clean (inside and outside).

Regulate heat, ventilation and air conditioning systems (if applicable) to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and ensure economical usage of fuel, water and electricity.

Maintain the necessary supplies and equipment to perform custodial tasks.

Clean and maintain custodial equipment and materials.

Report areas that need special maintenance or cleaning to the head custodian.

Assist in moving and arranging furniture and equipment.

Make minor repairs to building, furniture, equipment, etc. and report the need for other repairs to the head custodian.

Replenish supplies in restrooms; change ballasts and light bulbs.

Cooperate with other staff members.

Assist lunchroom personnel in the housekeeping duties of the kitchen and cafeteria including the removal of refuse.

Complete reports and forms as required.

Comply with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish and waste.

Other Duties and Responsibilities: 

Serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.

Help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.

Conduct other duties related to the custodian’s duties as assigned by the head custodian and/or principal.

ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  1.  Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue.
  2. Occasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions.
  3. Occasional interaction among unruly children.
  4. Substitute Health Aide

Substitute Health Aide – on as needed basis  – $19.50 per hour

Qualifications:
1. Posses a valid driver’s license and BCII/FBI clearance
2. Posses an active license in one of the following

  • RN
  • LPN with medication certification

3. Posses CPR/AED and First Aide certification
4. Able to get along with staff, public, etc; be courteous, polite and considerate.
5. Professional tact, diplomacy and presentation with administrators, staff, teachers, students, parents and the community.
6. Conscientious and assumes responsibility for own work performance.
7. Demonstrate appropriate dress and attire for a business office setting.
8. Must be physically able to lift up to 40 pounds.
9. Clearance through the Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
10. Be in good health, have high moral character and posses a strong attendance record.
11. Demonstrate enthusiasm and a sincere desire to aid all students.

General Description:
The Health Aide Sub provides health services to students using the application of basic knowledge of the biological, physical, behavioral, social and nursing sciences in coordination with the district Health Aide Supervisor.

Essential Functions:
1.  Works within the legal framework by adhering to the Ohio Nurse Practice Act
2.  Maintains protocol for distribution of student medications
3.  Maintains records for all student medications and clinic visits
4.  Assists in the control of communicable and nuisance diseases by adhering to immunization requirements and exclusions policies
5. Serves as a resource person in regard to school health education
6. Assists with routine clerical work, including attendance
7. Conduct other duties related to the health aide’s duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services and Well Being and/or Health Aide Supervisor and/or Building Principal
8. Maintain respect at all times for confidential information

Other Duties and Responsibilities:
1.  Serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings
2.  Help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values
3.  Conduct other duties related to the receptionist’s duties as assigned by Principal, Health Aide Supervisor, or Director of Student Services and Well Being
4.  Be fully trained in emergency response procedures

Additional Working Conditions:

2.  Occasional operation of a vehicle in inclement weather conditions
3.  Occasional interaction among unruly children
