General Description:

Responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of school pupils within the guidelines of the State of Ohio and the policies established by the Board of Education, maintaining discipline on the bus and promoting good public relations by neat appearance, proper attitude and suitable appearance of the school bus.

Essential Functions:
  1. Complete a safety check of the school bus as required by the State of Ohio Regulation 3301-83-11 before each run.
  2. Board the bus at least fifteen (15) minutes before the scheduled morning departure and at least five (5) minutes before departing the parking area in the afternoon.
  3. In cold weather, warm up the engine gradually. Do not race the engine. Be sure windshield, side windows and all mirrors are clear.
  4. Complete established pre-trip inspection. Before starting on a scheduled bus route to pick up or discharge pupils, the driver shall check headlights, tail and stop lights, warning lights, directional lights, tires, horn, windshield wipers, heater and defroster, dashboard gauges, steering brakes or any other feature which may affect the safe, efficient operation of the vehicle.
  5. Report equipment malfunctions in schooldude and give to the bus mechanics.
  6. Responsible for safe operating condition and cleanliness of the bus.
  7. Maintain pupil control and report any violation to the transportation supervisor according to procedure.
  8. Report any hazardous conditions along the existing route to the transportation supervisor.
  9. Follow properly approved procedures for reporting bus accidents and complete forms provided.
  10. Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude, conversation and the appearance of the school bus.
  11. Share in the responsibility for driving for a school-sponsored event and/or approved field trip.
  12. Shall be required to attend one (1) annual in-service program.
  13. Brief passengers on safety protocol.
  14. Do not leave any loose items on the bus.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.
  2. Help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.
  3. Conduct other duties related to the bus driver’s duties as assigned by the transportation supervisor.
Additional Working Conditions:
  1. Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue.
  2. Occasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions.
  3. Occasional interaction among unruly children.

The substitute shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.

General Description:

Perform custodial work required for the routine care, maintenance, protection and preservation of the assigned building, its contents and grounds.

Essential Functions:
  1. Perform and is directly responsible for the routine maintenance and repair of the building and its equipment plus all phases of housekeeping duties.
  2. Develop and ensure proper function of work, inspection, maintenance and cleaning schedules with the cooperation of the principal and/or designee.
  3. Maintain a clean, safe and neat boiler room (if applicable).
  4. Remove snow, ice, debris from walks, steps and entry ways.
  5. Help unload trucks, receive, check and store supplies.
  6. Perform required tasks such as sweeping, mopping floors, finishing floors, emptying and cleaning waste receptacles, trash and pencil sharpeners, refilling towel and soap dispensers and toilet tissue, removing cobwebs, cleaning windows, cleaning all chalkboards, cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, dusting and polishing furniture and woodwork as necessary.
  7. Keep buildings in a neat and presentable fashion and play areas neat and clean (inside and outside).
  8. Regulate heat, ventilation and air conditioning systems (if applicable) to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and ensure economical usage of fuel, water and electricity.
  9. Maintain the necessary supplies and equipment to perform custodial tasks.
  10. Clean and maintain custodial equipment and materials.
  11. Report areas that need special maintenance or cleaning to the head custodian.
  12. Assist in moving and arranging furniture and equipment.
  13. Make minor repairs to building, furniture, equipment, etc. and report the need for other repairs to the head custodian.
  14. Replenish supplies in restrooms; change ballasts and light bulbs.
  15. Cooperate with other staff members.
  16. Assist lunchroom personnel in the housekeeping duties of the kitchen and cafeteria including the removal of refuse.
  17. Complete reports and forms as required.
  18. Comply with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish and waste.

  3. Maintain and apply all safety, sanitation and cleanliness standards and practices in all food service areas as required by federal, state, local and district regulations and policies.
  4. Operate production equipment and dishwashing equipment.
  5. Receive, stock and inventory food and supplies.
  6. Transport food and supplies and cash bags/boxes when necessary.
  7. Handle public relations as necessary.
  8. Stock, display and present merchandise.
  9. Assist in the coordination of events and activities.
  10. Coordinate meal production in the absence of the Kitchen Supervisor.
  11. Meet and service the needs of clientele in a timely fashion and in a pleasant and appropriate manner.
  12. Assist in the operation of facilities as directed by the Director and/or Supervisor.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director and/or designee.
