Substitute teachers for the 2023-24 school year.  Substitute teachers are used on an as needed basis.  Substitutes must hold a current Ohio teaching license or Ohio substitute license.

Rate of pay – $110 – $ 115 per day based on Degree

Job Objectives:

Carries out the absent teacher’s prepared lesson plan. During a prolonged absence as defined by board policy, the substitute is responsible for performing all essential functions identified in the absent teacher’s job description.

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Follows teacher’s written lesson plans. Consults with the principal and/or staff to resolve questions and concerns.
  2. Teaches scheduled classes. Prepares a written summary of work completed. Makes the absent teacher aware of special situations or problems encountered.
  3. Implements effective pupil management procedures. Maintains high standards and upholds student conduct code.
  4. Develops and maintains a positive learning environment. Stimulates student interest.
  5. Varies instructional techniques to address individual learning styles.
  6. Provides guidance, communicates high expectations, and shows and active interest in student progress. Facilitates critical thinking, problem solving, and creativity skills.
  7. Works cooperatively with other teachers.
  8. Incorporates effective use of available technology in records management and instructional activities. Upholds district technology acceptable use policy.
  9. Maintains accurate records and submits reports on time.
  10. Takes the initiative to perform routine tasks independently.
  11. Upholds board policies and follows administrative procedures.
  12. Understands and uses district crisis plan protocol to respond to emergencies.
  13. Respects personal privacy. Maintains the confidentiality of privileged information.
  14. Participates in staff meetings and professional growth opportunities as directed.
  15. Watch for student behavior that may indicate a problem (e.g. profanity, teasing, bullying, distress, etc. ) Intervene and or report concerns to the administrator.
  16. Reports evidence of suspected child abuse as required by law.
  17. Accepts responsibility for decisions and conduct.
  18. Wears appropriate work attire and maintains a neat appearance.
  19. Conducts other duties related to the Substitute Teacher position as assigned by the Principal.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Valid Ohio teaching or substitute license or certificate in appropriate licensure area
  • Documentation of a clear criminal record with evidence from BCI and FBI
  • Self-directed and able to learn quickly
  • Professional tact, diplomacy and presentation
  • Conscientious and assumes responsibility for own work performance.
  • Good health, high moral character and good attendance record.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm and a sincere desire to aid all students
Other Knowledge Skills and Abilities required:
  • Demonstrates professionalism and contributes to a positive work environment
  • Organizes tasks and manages time effectively.
  • Skillfully manages individual, group, and organizational interactions.
  • Effectively uses verbal, non-verbal, writing and listening skills.
  • Averts problem situations and intervenes to solve conflicts
  • Ability to work with others, solve problems and work as part of a team.
  • Exhibits consistency, resourcefulness and resilience
  • Exercises self-control and perseverance when dealing with students.
  • Maintains a good attendance record and is punctual
  • Serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.
Additional Working Conditions:
  • Duties may entail occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue.
  • Duties may require traveling to various buildings throughout the district.
  • Duties may require occasional interaction among unruly children.
  • Duties may require bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, standing, lifting, carrying and moving work related supplies/equipment.
  • Duties may require prolonged use of a computer keyboard and monitor.
  • Duties may require working under time constraints to meet deadlines.
  • Duties may require operating and or riding in a vehicle.
  • Potential for exposure to adverse weather conditions and temperature extremes.

The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.

Long Term Substitute ELA - High School

Long Term ELA Teacher High School
Starting end of April for 4-5 weeks

Rate of Pay – $110.00- $115.00 per day – Rate increases after so many days.

Applicant must hold an Ohio Department of Education license in one of the following-
7-12 ELA
